Flags at City Hall are at half-mast in memory of former City of St. Catharines Mayor Alan Unwin.
Alan retired after his term as Mayor in 1997. Before becoming Mayor, Alan served three consecutive terms as a City of St. Catharines Councillor in the Port Dalhousie ward.
Alan's municipal political career followed a 30-plus-year career as an educator and school principal.

It is with deep sadness that we received news of the passing of former Mayor of St. Catharines, Alan Unwin.
Unwin's unwavering commitment to serving the public was evident throughout his career, from his position as Principal of Carlton School and Ferndale School in St. Catharines to his leadership of the St. Catharines Transit Commission in the mid-1980s.

Warmer weather means it’s time to hit the beach. St. Catharines residents can once again apply for their residential beach parking permits for Lakeside Park Beach and Sunset Beach.
