Mayor Mat Siscoe has served as the Mayor of St. Catharines since November 2022, following a tenure on Council for St. Patrick’s Ward from 2010 to January 2022. He was appointed to Regional Council after the passing of Sandie Bellows and has 15 years of experience as a high school physics teacher.
Active in the community, Mayor Siscoe has coached youth sports and volunteered with Out of the Cold. One of his key achievements as Mayor is establishing the St. Catharines OutReach and Engagement Fund (SCORE), which supports local non-profits.
He and his wife Chrissy have four children—Xavier, Canaan, Darius, and Sophia—along with two dogs and four cats. Inspired by his family and students, Mayor Siscoe is committed to creating a vibrant community for future generations.
Currently, he serves as Treasurer for the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative, is part of the Municipal Finance Sub-Committee for Ontario Big City Mayors, and chairs the Niagara Transit Commission. Mayor Siscoe is dedicated to working collaboratively with Council and city staff to foster a thriving community.

The Mayor meets with residents, community organizations and businesses on a variety of issues as often as his schedule permits. Due to the volume of requests received, meetings are generally 30 minutes to accommodate as many requests as possible.
Flag raising requests can be made through our Flag Raising Request Form. Please deliver your flag to the Mayor's Office the week prior to your flag raising. A staff member from the Mayor's Office will contact you to confirm the date and time. It is the responsibility of the individuals and/or organizations requesting a flag raising ceremony to invite the media and provide an agenda and list of speakers to the Mayor's Office prior to the event.
The Mayor's Office provides congratulatory certificates to individuals and groups for special occasions including anniversaries, birthdays and milestone occasions. The Mayor provides certificates for residents in St. Catharines celebrating their 75th, 80th, 85th, 90th, 95th, 100th and over 100 birthdays, and 25th, 50th, 60th, 65th, 70th, 75th and over anniversaries. To get a certificate, submit your Certificate Request Form six weeks ahead of the event. Please note, these certificates are not civic endorsements.
Invitations for the Mayor to special events can be made through our Invitation Request Form. Requests should be submitted at least six weeks in advance and must include the required information. A staff member from the Mayor's Office will contact you to confirm attendance or decline.
City pins can be requested by charitable organizations, agencies or sports teams for upcoming meetings, events or tournaments. Please complete our City Pin Request Form. The Mayor's Office only handles City Pin requests for 25 or fewer pins. For requests of more than 25 pins, please contact Economic Development and Tourism Services at 905-688-5601, ext. 1731.

The moveSTC initiative brings a series of monthly challenges designed to inspire residents to get moving, no matter their fitness level or schedule. Whether you take on one of Mayor Siscoe’s recommended challenges or find your own way to stay active, the goal is simple: keep moving and stay connected.
Each month, participants who track their activity will be entered into a raffle, with winners chosen at random on the first working day of the month. For extra entries, share your progress on social media using #moveSTC.
