On August 3, many facilities will remain open so individuals and families can make the most of their weekends. Plan ahead and enjoy with the following activities:
Outdoor pools and splash pads
Port Dalhousie and Lincoln Park outdoor pools and all City splash pads will be open for the Civic Holiday on Monday, with free admission. Please note, due to COVID-19, there are capacity limits and pools will be closed regularly for cleaning. Regular admission and supervision standards are in effect. Visit www.stcatharines.ca/OutdoorPools for leisure swim times and locations.
Beaches
St. Catharines Sunset, Lakeside Park and Jones Beaches are open for Niagara residents only. Identification and bags are being checked. Beach capacity is limited, as is the number of parking spots available. Vehicles will be fined or towed for parking where prohibited. Please note that barbecues, smoking and alcohol are not allowed on St. Catharines beaches. Visit www.stcatharines.ca/beaches to find out more.
St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre
The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre will be open all weekend, as well as Civic Holiday Monday. In order to ensure the health and safety of our guests and staff, visitors are required to book an appointment. Please call 905.984.8880 to book. Go to www.stcatharinesmuseum.ca for more information. Admission is by donation.
Garden City Golf Course
Golfers can swing on by the Garden City Golf Course this holiday weekend, but they must book first. The City-run golf course will be open from 7 a.m. to dusk all weekend, including Monday. However, enhanced health and safety processes are in place, so visit www.stcatharines.ca/golf for more information and to book a tee time.
Community Centres
Port Weller Community Centre is now open seven days per week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., including the Civic Holiday Monday, with scheduled times for open gym, pickle ball and youth basketball. Russell Avenue Community Centre continues to be open for washrooms only. Visit www.stcatharines.ca/communitycentres for more information.
Outdoor Sports Fields
Residents can get into some competitive fun. Select outdoor sports fields are open. Visit www.stcatharines.ca/sports-fields for locations and facility booking details.
Playgrounds
Playgrounds are now open. However, before heading out with young ones in tow, parents should note that equipment isn’t sanitized. Visitors should wash hands before and after playing on the equipment; be sure to practice physical distancing; and stay home if anyone in their household is feeling sick. Closures
The following City facilities will be closed on Monday, Aug. 3, 2020 for Civic Holiday:
- City Hall remains closed
- Citizens First customer service desk closed
- Morningstar Mill and Decew Falls trails remain closed
- The St. Catharines Enterprise Centre remains closed
- Parks, Recreation and Culture Services administration offices remain closed
- Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre, Bill Burgoyne Arena and Garden City Arena Complex remain closed
- Dunlop Drive, Port Dalhousie and West St. Catharines older adult centres remain closed
- Victoria Lawn Cemetery offices (visitation is always available from dawn to dusk)
Report fallen trees, road and sidewalk maintenance issues, blocked catch basins or sewer back-ups, to citizensfirst@stcatharines.ca. Report power outages to Alectra Utilities at 905.684.8111.
St. Catharines Transit will be operating on a holiday service schedule on Monday, Aug. 3 for the Civic Holiday. Transit returns to its regular schedule on Tuesday, Aug. 4. St. Catharines Transit’s administration office will also be closed Monday, Aug. 3.
