Check out the official emblems and symbols that represent the City of St. Catharines. Our logo and coat of arms are meant to help people recognize and identify the City in documents, signage and other branded materials.
The official logo for the City of St. Catharines is used to help people recognize and identify the City. The logo was created in 1972 and is sometimes referred to as “The Chevron.”
The four blue lines symbolize the four Welland Canals and the green represents the fruit growing lands. We updated the logo in 2016 to a more modern typeface and layout.
The heraldic coat of arms is officially registered and recognized as a symbol of the City of St. Catharines. We've replaced the use of the coat of arms with our official logo, however, the coat of arms remains an important symbol that is featured on the flag.
The official coat of arms contains a variety of symbols to help celebrate the city:
The flag for the City of St. Catharines features the City's coat of arms on a white panel, surrounded by green bars. The green colour symbolizes the fruit growing lands and extensive gardens in our community.
The official flower of the City of St. Catharines is the chrysanthemum. It was selected by the Garden City Horticultural Society as part of St. Catharines centennial celebrations in 1976. The chrysanthemum was selected because of its range of colours and its hardiness. It is significant as an all-round flower, selected to represent an all-round community.
