The City of St. Catharines Open Air Fires By-law allows the Fire Chief to declare a burning ban when necessary to reduce the risk of fire to people and property in the city.
Bans may be applied to a specific area of the city, or to specific types of fires. All fires subject to a burning ban will be extinguished immediately and all associated costs are incurred by the property owner.
