To continue to make Centennial Gardens a beautiful location, the City of St. Catharines provides a Centennial Gardens Partnership Fund for community projects.
How to apply
To apply, fill out the Centennial Gardens Partnership Fund online application. Applications are currently closed, please stay tuned for the next application deadline.
When you apply online, you will need to submit:
- Sources of project funding
- Proposed Budget

Application call-out
Watch for advertisements that the City will provide to call for applications. These will be found in the Garden City Current, the City's social media accounts and on the Centennial Gardens webpage.
Who can apply?
You can apply for the fund if you are a:
- Incorporated charity, not-for-profit corporation or business
- Informal group or organization (the City or a formalized group must execute the project)
How does it work?
The City will provide matching funds through the Parkland Dedication Fund for approved projects to a maximum of $15,000. The funds must be applied to the project outlined in the application. Projects will be expected to be held during the spring, summer and fall of the following year.
Donation materials can be counted towards your matching funds. However, areas that the fund will not match include:
- In-kind and volunteer labour
- Funds raised from other government agencies
Evaluation criteria
All projects must be completed to City standards and comply with the Ontario Planning Act. To achieve this standard, the City may need to run all or part of the project.
To be considered, your application must:
- Align with our Strategic Plan, Recreation Facility and Programming Master Plan or other strategic documents
- Align with our park goals:
- Increase park visitors
- Improve pedestrian access points and connectivity
- Help to remove invasive trees and clearing of overgrown vegetation
- Have capacity to support long-term maintenance and operation
- Demonstrate your ability to complete similar projects
- Confirm matching funds
- Demonstrate project reach and target audience
- Support engagement and collaboration or partnerships with other organizations, groups or the public
- Can leverage other funds
- Use in-kind or volunteer labour

The Centennial Gardens Partnership Fund is related to the:
- Economic Sustainability Goal 3 to develop partnerships to enhance the vitality of the community
- Social Sustainability Action 5.1 to be a city that embraces connectivity between people, place and neighbourhoods
