At the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre, we offer aquatic fitness classes to meet all fitness goals and abilities. Whether you are looking to get in shape or try therapeutic aquatics, we've got something for everyone.
You must register in advance for all aquatic fitness classes. Registration will open at 9 a.m. two days before the scheduled class. If you're unable to come to class, please call us at 905.688.5601 ext. 1800 at least two hours before the class.
If you miss a class without cancelling, you will be placed on hold for three days and you won't be able to book any classes during that time.

View our aquatic fitness admission fees for adults and older adults. You can purchase clip cards and passes at the Kiwanis Aquatics Centre or the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre.

Explore each of the aquatic fitness programs that we have to offer. Please note that not all classes run year-round.
Aquafit |
This program takes place in the shallow and deep areas of the lane pool. It is a fun exercise program that combines the benefits of shallow and deep aquafit. Emphasis is on cardiovascular fitness, conditioning and toning. |
Aquafit Boot Camp |
Are you ready for the challenge of boot camp? This high intensity workout will put you through the paces with a fun and interactive water workout. The program allows you t set your own personal fitness goals while working to achieve your personal bests. Swimming requirementsYou must be comfortable swimming in deep water to take this class. |
Aqua Cycle |
This program takes place in the lane pool. Join us for a cardiovascular workout designed to strengthen legs, arms and core. Water shoes or clean running shoes are mandatory to participate. Apparel to protect the inside of thighs while riding in the water (ie- bike shorts)is highly recommended.
Classes will run for one hour. The first 10 minutes of each class will be dedicated to providing individual fit on each bike for each patron, and the last 5 minutes for bike removal. During the first class, the instructor will fit and adjust the bikes for each participant. The familiarization and orientation with regards to hand/body positioning will be covered during the class format, along with intensity manipulations and conditioning drills.

Deep Water Aquafit |
This deep water aquafit class is ideal for developing core strength and balance. The emphasis is on cardiovascular fitness, conditioning and toning. Classes are held in deep water in the lane pool eliminating any impact on your joints. We will use floatation belts for added support. Swimming requirementsYou must be able to swim 25 metres and be comfortable in deep water to take this class. |
Forever Fit |
This instructor-led program will feature fitness activities to enhance your quality of life. The class focuses on range of motion, core strength, cardio, balance, flexibility and overall muscle strength exercises. |
Hip, Knee and Back |
In this class for adults who are coping with hip and knee joint degeneration, we will focus on range of motion for the joints, muscle conditioning, balance and posture training. We recommend this course for pre- and post-operative care. |
Strong and Steady |
One in three people over the age of 65 will fall at least once this year. Studies have shown that physically strong individuals have better balance and are less likely to fall. This class focuses on improving strength, balance and flexibility and will allow you to build confidence. Warm water is an ideal, safe environment to train posture, agility, strength and conditioning. |
Therapeutic Aquatics |
This class takes place in the Leisure Pool and exercises focus on improving daily functioning and mobility. We will improve your posture, stretch your muscles, develop muscular strength and work your cardiovascular system through a variety of exercises. |
Use Your Noodle |
Gentle full body workout with pool noodles in warm water. Improve posture, stretch muscles, develop muscular strength and work the cardiovascular system. |
