Please be advised that a construction contract for this project has been awarded. The successful contractor, 560789 Ontario Limited o/a R and M Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin work during the week of Nov, 6, weather permitting. Construction is expected to take approximately seven weeks to complete including final restorations. Please note that this schedule and completion of construction is dependent on weather conditions and could possibly change in case of inclement weather. In addition, some weather sensitive components of the works may need to be completed in Spring 2024.
The construction project includes necessary creek restoration works, restoration of the existing culvert under the pedestrian walkway between Briarsdale Drive and Woodcrest Drive, improvements on the downstream side of the culvert, and protection of a storm sewer maintenance hole further north in the creek.
Access to abutting properties in the project area through city roads is not expected to be affected. However, occasional minor traffic disruptions on Briarsdale Drive and Woodcrest Drive are possible. On-street parking (where allowed), garbage collection and water or sewer services are not expected to be affected due to this project.
The pedestrian pathway parallel to the hydro corridor between Briarsdale Drive and Woodcrest Drive will be impacted by construction since the area will need to be used for construction site access off Briarsdale Drive. During ongoing construction activities, the full length of the pathway will be fully closed for safety reasons.
The existing creek meanders on private property and as a result some construction activity and access to the construction locations will encroach on private property. Properties where any significant disturbance is expected were contacted previously and permissions for the required works have been secured in advance. All disturbed areas will be properly restored at the conclusion of the project. If any residents have any private installations at or near the creek, then they should inform the project team in advance of construction to avoid any inadvertent damages.
A construction Inspector from Aquafor Beech Limited will be present on the site during construction activities and can be contacted for information or any concerns.
Prior to construction commencing, representatives from OZA Inspections Ltd. will be contacting you to arrange for an inspection of the interior and exterior of your building. Please note that only properties deemed very close to the proposed construction will be contacted for inspections. The purpose of this inspection is to determine and document the extent of any cracking or other damages that exists prior to the commencement of construction. This information can then be used to determine the extent of the Contractor's responsibility in the unlikely event that damages to your building occur during construction. The representatives of OZA Inspections Ltd. will have identifications with them.
We look forward to working with you and having the City’s Contractor complete this project in a professional and timely manner. If you have any questions, or require further information, please contact the construction Inspector on site during construction or contact one of the other Project Team members identified below.
