Alectra service upgrades in downtown area

Alectra Utilities has provided notice of a number of upgrades to its distribution assets that are required in the downtown area as part of services to be provided to 57 Carlisle St.

In a notification letter, Alectra has said the following construction work will be completed starting this week:

• Distribution poles will be upgraded from 45 feet to 60 feet to accommodate on St. Paul Street West between 70 St. Paul St W and 56 St. Paul St W.
• Installing new concrete encased primary ducts via open cut from 60 James St. (southeast corner of King and James) and 44 James St.
• Installing new concrete encased primary ducts via open trench in front of 28 James St. intersection of James and Summer streets.
• Installing new HDPE (High density polyethylene) ducts via directional bore at 3 Garden Park.
• Installing new primary underground cables into existing and new ducts along St. Paul Street West, James Street, William Street, King Street, James Street and Garden Park.

Alectra notes that the project will require some major and minor excavation in some areas, but efforts will be made to maintain both vehicular and pedestrian traffic in both directions during the work.

Scheduled power interruptions may also be required to safely complete the work. If power will be affected, Alectra says it will provide notification by phone or notice on the front door of affected customers.
