Artists and organizations can now apply for funding under the St. Catharines Cultural Investment Program (SCCIP).
The program offers annual funding through several program streams, serving diverse segments of the creative community, in an effort to strengthen the cultural landscape of the community and provide opportunities for residents to engage in artistic expression.
Applications are currently open for the Culture Days Activity Program (CDAP); Sustaining-Core Program and Sustaining-Midsized Program.
The CDAP provides grants to artists, businesses and organizations to host free virtual and in-person activities during Culture Days in St. Catharines between Sept. 23 and Oct. 16. In 2020 and 2021, St. Catharines hosted more Culture Days events than any other community in Canada. Applicants must apply by March 24.
Sustaining-Core and Sustaining-Midsized Program funding supports St. Catharines-based, professional non-profit arts organizations with a mission to develop, create, produce and deliver their work to the community. The application deadline for these two programs is April 14.
“Arts and culture add so much to our lives, helping us understand the world we live in and inspiring us to experience differing viewpoints that strengthen our community,” said Culture Supervisor Noora Rizvi, adding, “it’s important that culture continues to thrive and improve our lives and the SCCIP helps to do that, ensuring the myriad of artists and organizations that deliver so much have the resources they need to engage our residents in artistic creation and expression.”
Applications for two other SCCIP programs — Arts Development and Culture Builds Community — will open on March 31. Applications for the Sustaining-Festival Program will open in the summer.
In 2021, Council approved a total of $400,000 in funding to 37 applicants across all six SCCIP funding streams. Visit www.stcatharines.ca/SCCIP to learn more about these funding programs, the selection criteria and to apply online.
