The City of St. Catharines has announced the winners of its annual Trillium Awards.
The Trillium Awards recognize property owners who create outstanding landscapes, using their front yards and gardens to beautify their community. A total of 15 awards were presented, including Civic Beautification Awards granted in each ward; a Community Choice Award selected through an online vote; and a Green Leader Award, recognizing environmentally friendly yards. In addition, the Mayor's Award was presented to the best garden out of all nominations.
“Congratulations to this year’s Trillium Award recipients for their incredible efforts to help beautify St. Catharines,” said Mayor Walter Sendzik. “We have so many enthusiastic gardeners helping green our City and make our neighbourhoods feel alive. Thanks to their contributions, we get to enjoy more vibrant neighbourhoods all across our community.”

Held at the City’s Market Square, the event marked a return to celebrating the work of garden enthusiasts in-person.
“We’re excited to be back celebrating residents who rolled up their sleeves to enhance their properties in unique and sustainable ways,” said Ilyse Norton, Development Horticultural Technician. “Now more than ever, we recognize the importance of garden spaces, especially after a period of time when so many of us turned to nature as a source of calm and tranquility.”
