With the Province of Ontario gradually easing restrictions in light of improving COVID-19 indicators, several City facilities will reopen on Jan. 31, with some restrictions.
On Jan. 20 the Province announced it would begin to gradually ease public health restrictions. Lessened restrictions will allow most City recreational facilities and City Hall to reopen on Jan. 31.
With facilities reopening several COVID-19 prevention requirements will be in place at City facilities, in line with Provincial directives:
- Proof of vaccine required for individuals aged 12 and up. An enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code is required.
- Screening and contact tracing information is required on entry. Individuals can complete screening ahead of time on the day of their visit at www.stcatharines.ca/VisitorScreening.
- Masks required.
- Physical separation of two metres must be maintained unless explicitly stated otherwise.
The following City facilities will reopen Jan. 31.
City Hall
- Open by appointment, book online at www.stcatharines.ca/CityHall. The booking portal will open at 4:30 p.m., Jan. 27.
- Remote service delivery options continue to be offered
St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre
- Open to the public with 50 per cent capacity limit
- Outdoor viewing platform open
- Gift shop open
Arenas
- Open with 50 per cent capacity for participants and spectators
- Public programming will resume
- Dressing rooms open with 50 per cent capacity (12 people)
Community Centres (Russell Avenue and Port Weller)
- Open with 50 per cent capacity
Older Adult Centres
- Open with 50 per cent capacity
St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre
- Open with 50 per cent capacity for participants and spectators
- Change rooms open
Recreational and Older Adult Programming
- Reservations are required for most drop-in-style programs (public skating, leisure swimming, pickleball, chair yoga, etc.), register online starting Jan. 29 at www.stcatharines.ca/ActiveSTC
- Classes and other registration-based programming (programs with multiple instalments), including swimming lessons, will resume at the start of the spring programming session in April
- Participants are asked to arrive no more than 15 minutes before their program’s start time
Further Information
Members of the public are reminded to stay safe and slow the spread of COVID-19 by:
- Washing / sanitizing hands frequently
- Limiting contact to household members only and essential supports
- Limiting indoor social gatherings to 10 people, and outdoor social gatherings to 25
- Wear a mask or face covering when around others from another household, out in public places, or outdoors when unable to stay physically distant
- Obtaining vaccination, including booster shots, when able
