This year’s show, titled Open-ended, is focused on the artists' exploratory creation process and will be on display from Sept. 22, 2023, to March 2024.
The theme allows artists to showcase their imagination while asking viewers to embrace the visual, bringing the artists’ creative process to the forefront.
“We are excited to host another extraordinary showcase of talent at this year’s juried art exhibition,” said Olivia Hope, culture coordinator. “This year's showcase invites visitors to embark on a journey into the artists' imagination and celebrate the boundless spirit of their creativity.”
The exhibit can be found on display in the third-floor gallery space at City Hall and features artworks by 12 local artists.
The chosen artists have expressed their vision through a variety of artistic mediums, such as textiles, photographs and paint. Featured artists include Mike Elliott, Chris Liszak, Kim Collins, Rachelle Wunderink, Karen Klucowicz, Donna Szoke, Emily Andrews, Dillon Douglas, Kathy McBride, Danny Custodio, Melanie MacDonald, and Laurie Morrison.
Everyone is invited to meet the artists and discuss their work during the opening reception on Friday, Sept. 22 starting at 5 p.m. in the Third Floor Gallery at City Hall. Visit stcatharines.ca/Exhibits for more information.
This exhibit is part of Culture Days, happening this year from Sept. 22 to Oct. 15. Local artists and cultural organizations are ready to bring arts and culture to the community with free activities for all ages including workshops, performances, poetry, and other hands-on activities.
