Update as of Feb. 21: Crews will continue snow removal efforts in the downtown core during the overnight hours through the weekend.
The City continues its snow removal efforts by targeting the downtown core tonight, Feb. 20, to ensure safe and accessible streets for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Crews will focus on the following areas: St. Paul Street, King Street, and Church Street from Ontario Street to Carlisle Street; and William Street, Queen Street, and James Street from St. Paul Street to King Street. Work may extend to additional streets as needed. Operations will begin overnight and continue as weather conditions require.
To support this effort, vehicles parked along these streets will be relocated to Market Square. The City reminds residents and visitors of the year-round overnight parking restriction in effect daily from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. in the downtown core’s metered zones.
“We’re working to keep our downtown safe and accessible during winter weather,” said Dan Scholman, acting manager of linear infrastructure operations. “We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we carry out this important work.”
The City has partnered with the Downtown St. Catharines Association to notify local businesses. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and avoid parking in the affected areas during overnight hours.
