The City of St. Catharines has been honoured with an award for creative excellence for its STC Framework for Recovery: Our Path Forward.
To adapt to the challenges brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic, last June the City developed a strategic plan to ensure that the safety of residents, businesses and employees are kept a priority, while services, programs and operations return to full capacity. Known as the STC Framework for Recovery, this plan introduces ways in which the City will adjust all functions to a post-COVID-19 environment, based on three essential pillars: Health and Wellness, Organizational and Economic. The plan recently received recognition with a Hermes Creative Award of excellence.
“Led by our outgoing Chief Administrative Officer Shelley Chemnitz, a cross section of highly qualified and motivated members of the corporation were recruited to form our Recovery Planning Team, and have been essential in helping our City receive this recognition,” said Brian York, Director of Economic Development and Government Relations. “Many fingerprints touched the submission we put forward for this award, and I am proud of the efforts and dedication that has been made.”
Included in the submission was the Economic Development Pandemic Recovery Strategy, which identifies a long-term vision for the economic development and tourism sector in the recovery of local businesses. Ongoing identified by this strategy include marketing campaigns, increased funding and creative initiatives.
“This is an exciting milestone for the City of St. Catharines as our dedication to push forward despite the hardships of the pandemic have been evident,” said Acting CAO David Oakes. “Our City is on track for positive developments in the coming months as we continue to overcome challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and work our way through the recovery framework.”
The “Leading Change” video was also included in the City’s submission, representing the historic developments that have shaped St. Catharines into the adaptive and resilient city it is today. The video campaign was launched alongside the pandemic recovery strategy and can be viewed on the City’s YouTube channel.
The Hermes Creative Awards recognize creative professionals involved in the concept, writing, and design of traditional and emerging media at an international level. With more than 6,500 entries from across the globe, the City of St. Catharines is proud to be recipients of the Platinum category.
