Businesses in St. Catharines can add a pop of colour to their storefronts this spring with the return of the City’s annual Flowerpot Program.
The program provides businesses with the opportunity to rent professionally designed 24-inch flowerpots filled with seasonal blooms. Placed outside storefronts, offices, and other businesses, these planters help enhance streetscapes and create a welcoming environment for customers and visitors.
“The Flowerpot Program is a simple and effective way for businesses to brighten up their spaces while contributing to the overall beautification of our city,” said Development Horticultural Technician Mike Kraft. “Year after year, these planters bring colour and vibrancy to our commercial areas, making them more inviting for everyone.”
Rental fees for 2025 are as follows:
Each additional pot beyond four is an additional $78.75.
Fees cover the cost of the planter, soil, plants, and fertilizer. Businesses are responsible for watering and maintaining their flowerpots throughout the season.
“Participating in the program not only enhances individual storefronts but also contributes to a more attractive and lively streetscape for the entire community,” added Kraft. “It’s a great way for businesses to show their pride in the city while creating a more enjoyable atmosphere for customers.”
Businesses interested in renting flowerpots can place their orders at stcatharines.ca/FlowerPots. Orders must be submitted by May 16 at 4:30 p.m. Flowerpots will be delivered in late spring and collected in early fall.
