May 21, 2021 — With enhanced safety measures in place, the Garden City Golf Course will open for the 2021 season on Tuesday, providing residents the opportunity to get out and enjoy essential exercise safely and affordably.
Following changes to the provincial restrictions, the course is set to open Tuesday, May 25, with strict health and safety measures to ensure the course operates in compliance with the current provincial orders. While it is important for residents to get out of the house and enjoy time outdoors for both physical and mental health, the City remains committed to ensuring all who visit the amenity remain safe and healthy.
“It’s important for our residents to be able to get out for their personal health, and golf is a great way to do that,” said Director of Municipal Works Darrell Smith, adding, “we’re looking forward to welcoming the public back to the course safely in a way that ensures residents can enjoy the game without impacting efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community.”
Safety measures under the current orders include:
Drinks, alcoholic beverages, and prepackaged snacks will be offered as takeout from the clubhouse or via the course’s refreshment cart. The grill, and hot food offerings, remain unavailable. Pull carts are available for rental. Outdoor washroom facilities will be open.
Residents and the public must book their tee time by calling 905.688.5601 ext. 1677 or online at GolfNow.com. Walk-ins and cash payments will not be permitted. Tee times start at 7 a.m., and intervals have increased to satisfy safety requirements.
This year’s pricing will reflect last year’s rates and fees. Memberships remain unavailable. Activity packs will still be available this season in 10, 20 and 45 rounds.
Through the end of May, golfers can book an off-season nine-hole weekday round for $11.80, and on weekends for $15.30. Eighteen-hole rounds are priced at $22.60 for weekdays and $23.70 on weekends. Prime season green fees with an increased price begin June 1. Twilight Golf along with Weekday Golf and Ride deals will still be available.
