December 2nd, 2024 – The Mayor’s Office is excited to continue its TownhallSTC series, an initiative designed to provide St. Catharines residents with an ongoing opportunity to engage directly with Mayor Mat Siscoe and their Ward Councillors. The next TownhallSTC event will take place on January 22, 2024 from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM at the Grantham Optimist Club, located at 188 Linwell Road.
Mayor Siscoe will be joined by Councillors Bruce Williamson and Carlos Garcia to listen to residents' concerns, ideas, and feedback. This event is open to all St. Catharines residents and provides a chance for face-to-face discussions on topics that are the most important to the community.
“We are committed to keeping St. Catharines residents connected with their local leaders, and these townhall events are a valuable way for us to hear directly from the community,” said Mayor Mat Siscoe. “I look forward to hearing the ideas and concerns of our Port Dalhousie residents.”
The inaugural TownhallSTC event, held on November 13th, 2024, at the Grantham Lions Club, was a success, drawing 24 attendees. Residents raised key issues, including the Sunset Beach Renewal Project, climate change initiatives, homelessness, and community safety.
The discussion was engaging and informative, with plenty of constructive feedback from the public. Since the event, the Mayor’s Office has received positive feedback from residents who appreciated the opportunity to be heard.
“I am thrilled to continue the TownhallSTC series with Mayor Siscoe and my fellow Councillors,” said Councillor Bruce Williamson. “It is a great way for us to engage with residents, understand their concerns, and work together toward solutions that will benefit our entire community.”
“Port Dalhousie is a unique and vibrant part of St. Catharines, and I am excited to hear directly from our residents about the issues that matter most to them,” added Councillor Carlos Garcia. “These townhalls are an excellent opportunity to connect, learn, and collaborate on ideas for the future of our city.”
Residents are encouraged to attend their own Ward’s TownhallSTC event; however, they are welcome to attend any and all TownhallSTC events across the city. Pre-registration is recommended and can be completed online at www.stcatharines.ca/townhallstc. If you wish to speak at the event, please note this when registering, and you will be given priority. Pre-registration closes on January 21st at 9 AM.
The format of the event allows individuals to speak for up to 5 minutes at a microphone directly to the Mayor and their Ward Councillors, with the Mayor and/or Councillors having the opportunity to respond. All attendees are expected to follow the TownhallSTC Code of Conduct to ensure a respectful and productive discussion.
The TownhallSTC series will continue every two months, with additional sessions planned for the St. Patrick’s, St. George’s, Merritton, and St. Andrews Wards, in that order. Dates and locations for these events will be announced in the coming months.
