On April 30th, St. Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe presented the Key to the City to Tim Denis in honour of his accomplished career on the airwaves. The presentation was made at the conclusion of the Mayor’s long-standing post-Council wrap up interview conducted with Tim, which was all part of Denis’ final day on air.
Affectionately known as Niagara’s morning man, Tim Denis has been waking up Niagara for the last 29 years on 610 CKTB. Tim recently celebrated 47 years in radio and through much change in the media landscape, Tim has been a constant and trusted source for local news, verified content, as well as open and honest conversations about some of the hot topics in Niagara.
While many of us hear Tim’s voice every day, many may not know about the immeasurable impact he has had on the charitable and non-profit sector in the Niagara Region. Throughout his career, Tim has helped raise tens of millions of dollars for Niagara charities, hospitals, and service providers. As an emcee for dozens of gala fundraisers and events each year, Tim always brings his passion and commitment to various causes.
“The Key to the City is presented to individuals whose contributions in their career reflect positively on our community,” said Mayor Siscoe. “We are proud to honour Tim for all he has done for the community - whether it is emceeing events to raise money for worthwhile causes, or giving voices to those in the community who couldn’t otherwise be heard. Tim has demonstrated the best qualities we could hope for, and we all owe him a thank you. The Key to the City is a small token of our appreciation.”
As Tim enters retirement, the City is proud to celebrate his legacy as a major contributor both on the airwaves and in our community with the Key to the City.
Denis joins a prestigious list of recipients of the Key to the City, including Doug Hamilton, Kristen Kit, Tim Hicks, Dr. Dan Patterson, Norm Foster, Edward Burtynsky, Dr. Jack Lightstone, Tom Rankin, Robert Cooper, Fergie Jenkins, Mary Ann Edwards and Dr. Rosemary Hale.
This is the first Key to the City presented by Mayor Siscoe in his first term as Mayor.
