Volunteers from across the City stepped into the spotlight last night as the City recognized their good deeds at the annual St. Catharines Volunteer Recognition Awards.
Several awards were presented at an event on April 16 as the City hosted its annual Volunteer Recognition Awards. Recipients were greeted by City staff, Councillors and Mayor Siscoe.
“We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and selflessness of volunteers in St. Catharines. Their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment enrich our community in ways that words cannot adequately express,” said Mayor Mat Siscoe. “The volunteers in our community embody a true spirit of service and we are honoured to recognize their outstanding contributions.”
Carl MacCulloch was named the recipient of the 2024 Mayor’s Volunteer of the Year Award for his service at St. Catharines Rowing Club. The Mayor’s Volunteer of the Year award is presented to an individual who represents volunteerism at its finest level.
The Margaret and Robin MacLennan Youth Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to two recipients this year – Melina DiPietrio for her work with St. Catharines Greek Community of Niagara, and Samuel Tindall for his work with Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold. The annual award recognizes youth who have displayed and demonstrated principles and actions that help to create a healthier and more connected community.
Dozens of other outstanding individuals received awards for their volunteer efforts from the City. A complete list of recipients can be found at stcatharines.ca/VolunteerAwards.
