Update: There will be temporary trail closures between Aug. 19 and Aug. 30.
The City of St. Catharines is sharing the following information from Niagara Region that will have an impact on portions of trail along Twelve Mile Creek. See below for a full notice on the project, including project contacts from Niagara Region:
This emergency repair work is located by Twelve Mile Creek and Riverview Boulevard / Oakridge Avenue intersection in the City of St. Catharines. The purpose of the repair is to replace the failing infrastructure, the combined sewer overflow (CSO) pipe to prevent future failures.
Due to the urgency of the repair, the work will commence as soon as possible. Residents can anticipate the work to start and complete in the month of July to Aug. 2024.
All activities are limited to within OPG property and right‑of-way easements. The Twelve Trail East and Suzanne’s Trail will be closed once excavation starts for safety.
This work involves heavy equipment and open trenches. Keep away from all fenced areas and follow the posted safety signage. Always keep yourself and others a safe distance from all work areas.
